Covid-19

Keeping you Safe

As certain aspects of lockdown begin to ease a little bit, we wanted to reassure you that everything is being done to ensure that all of our public transport partners remain as safe as possible to use.

We've been in touch with all of our partners and they are all working hard to keep trains, buses and coaches clean and safe.

Trains

In general, the train companies have all employed additional staff to increase the amount of cleaning taking place overnight when trains return to the depots.

All have stepped up cleaning regimes to ensure that all surfaces including handrails, ticket machine touch screens and door handles are kept clean at all stations, with particular focus being paid to the busiest of locations.

In every case, trains are also being checked and cleaned more regularly throughout the day. Measures are being taken to ensure all trains have water, soap and paper available in toilets before they start every journey. They also have measures in place to deep clean specific locations as and when required.

Buses

The majority of bus services have been severely reduced to reflect available resources and the reduction in passenger numbers. To meet with social distancing, signage has been placed on seating throughout most buses, with the seats behind the driver and at various positions being taped off. Although capacity is greatly reduced, passengers are being asked to follow these guidelines.

In the main, bus companies who accept cash payment are still accepting cash but will not be carrying change to issue to passengers so patrons will need the exact fare when paying by cash. They are encouraging passengers to use contactless or available apps for travelling.

Buses are cleaned thoroughly each day upon return to the depot. Buses parked up on layover are also being cleaned during the day.

Journey Share by Car

If you have no alternative but to travel by car with someone from a different household, please ensure that you keep door handles and all other touch points clean. You should limit your vehicle to two occupants with the second occupant sitting in the rear of the vehicle, behind the passenger seat. Keep all windows open during the journey and if practical, for at least an hour or so afterwards. Wash your hands or hand sanitise prior to traveling and again at the end of the journey. If possible, both occupants should wear a face covering.

Helping our members get back to work

Understandably our easitMEMBERS may not be using trains and buses at present, but we wanted to remind you of a few other easitINITIATIVES that could help you during this difficult time:

easitTUSKER Vehicle Salary Saving Scheme - Car Benefit Schemes are now the fourth mandated salary sacrifice scheme alongside Pensions, Bike to Work and Childcare by the Government. The scheme also rewards you as an organisation with £150 per ultra low emission vehicle delivered on the scheme.

HMRC Benefit in Kind rates (BIK) were reduced from April 2020 on Ultra Low Emission cars, to zero in some cases, which means that both employees and employers make substantial savings on these cars.  For more information please contact cindy@easit.org.uk
